Seafood Kabob

Yummy homecooked seafood kabob, wild caught King salmon, Chilean sea bass, shrimp, red bell pepper, and onion. Served with lemongrass organic wild rice. This dish was a perfect pairing w/ Burgundy-Clos de Tart.

  • Ingredients: any kind of fish (your choice), shrimp, you could add muscle and clam. Bell pepper and onion or any kind of veggie you prefer, little salt, garlic powder, cracked black pepper. Cooking oil. Some stick and foil.

  • Preparing: clean your seafood, cut the fish in small pieces as well as bell pepper and onion. Sprinkle the seafood with some salt, garlic powder, cracked black pepper. Put your seafood and veggie on the stick, alternating them. Brush it with a little bit of cooking oil. Now you have beautiful kabobs.

  • Cooking: Heat up your grill in high heat. Use foil to set on top of your grill. Put  the kabobs on the foil, and grill for about 15 to 20 minutes. Enjoy your yummy healthy kabobs.

You could serve your kabobs with any kind of rice. I served it with lemongrass wild rice. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful day to you all! Hanh.

Tear It Up

Hi guys! I finally tried to find my mood to resume my post.

Tear it up or layer it up, I just really like this look- young, energy, and fun.  I felt like this outfit chased my blues away. I recently found this ‘Tear it up’ tank and the sweatshirt from Forever 21. I really love the hem detail and the mix of two fabrics of this sweatshirt, and the graphic of this tank top.  I hope this look inspires you to layer a tank top and a sweatshirt for your warm fall day.

To cheer me up, I made a trip to Sephora with my daughters to update my new make-up supplies. I hope you like my new makeup :)

Wearing: Forever21 tank top and sweatshirt, J Brand leather jeans, Viktor and Rolf booties, Bijules rings, Victorian vintage bracelet, and NastyGal bag.

Styling by me.

Thank you everyone for your love and support! Wishing you have a wonderful day! xo…Hanh.

Sorry For The Delay in Posting

Hi guys! I hope you’re doing well. Sorry for the lack of posting. I had a long journey in Vietnam to take care of both of my sick parents. It was the best I could do to be there with them and give them support, love, caring, and comfort.  I’m already back in the US with my girls and my family. My mom is doing better now, but my dad is on and off. We have tried everything for him and he has taken so many different Western and Eastern medicines, but in his case it is not a simple cure. He’s 89 years old, and I don’t know how much longer he’ll be with us. It is painful. I just talked to my mom this morning and he is NOT doing well. I understand that things are sometimes out of your control and we must leave things in God’s hands. My dad is a good man, has a big heart… Yes, he is a tough man.

You always learn something and gain valuable lessons in your life when you go through these things- happy or difficult times. I’ve learned. It’s difficult to resume my blog posts because my mind is with my parents and I worry about them. Last week, I tried to get myself together to have a photoshoot for the blog. But this morning, after hearing my dad is not doing well today, I’m feeling so so sad and off. I want you to understand what is happening to my blog and me.

THANK YOU everyone for your patience and understanding. I’ll try to resume my post regularly. Also, THANK YOU for your love and support! Wishing you days full of love, peace, health and happiness. Hanh

My dad and mom were 63 years ago when they just married.

Summer in Oregon

Every summer, we have a chance to visit Portland, Oregon. It’s a perfect place for you to feel a chill weather during summer time, high about 75 F and low around 55-60 F. There are so many outdoor and fun activities here for you to do. Here are some highlights of my most recent trip to Oregon.

Hiking up to the top of Multnomah falls is a  must. The nature is gorgeous and the hike is awesome. The falls drop in two steps with total height of 620 feet (189m), and it’s the second tallest fall in the US.

When I’m in Portland, I love to start my day with hiking. There are so many nice hiking trails around Oregon. Here is another beautiful one called Horsetail trail.

We took a road trip to Timberline Lodge and hiked up to Mt.Hood.

Mt.Jefferson in the background and Timberline Lodge seen from halfway hiking up to the top of Mt.Hood. This hotel built in 1930s and it is noted in film for serving as the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining.

We walked up and down the fun street called NW 23rd. There are so many great, fun restaurants and shops on this street. My favorite place is Salt & Straw ice-cream store, the popular ice cream spot in Portland. They have many strange flavors as strawberry cilantro lime cheesecake, pear and blue cheese, caramel with salted dark chocolate….

Another fun store to visit while you’re on NW 23rd is Poplandia. It’s popcorn heaven. They serve delicious gourmet popcorn from the standard flavor Sea Salted Caramel and Double Cheesy to  unique flavors that are tasty, fresh, and very creative as Cool Watermelon Sorbet, Coconut Curry, Maple Bourbon Bacon and Cheddar Upon Caramel…

Merriman Vineyard in Yamhill county is beautiful. I always enjoy a private tour to this vineyard…Lol! Please, don’t tell anyone it’s my hubby’s vineyard :).

It was cloudy that day and we couldn’t see the Mt.Hood view, but it was such a beautiful sky.

Opposites Attract

How are you having fun with your looks for this season? Play with your pretty floral mix, spread your feeling in the season’s boldest hues, or make an impact in graphic black and white. I intended to pair this timeless shape and classic black and white graphic print dress with the contemporary feel of this checkmate graphic print clutch giving an unexpected styling and sending a message to avoid being conventional and predictable.

Wearing: Alaia dress (I was so happy to get it on sale for 50% off), Lanvin pumps, Nasty Gal clutch, Lanvin gold necklace styled underneath Beavaldes necklace. Rings from Urban Outfitters, Jennie Kwon Designs.

Wish you all a happy weekend! xo…Hanh :)

Fun In The Sun

I had a lot of fun doing this shoot. The summer heat in Dallas was intense, and that kept me in the mood to keep things simple in pure white with ankle-strap sandal heels, calling just enough attention to those legs. The clutch completes the look with great color contrast. And that water fountain truly refreshed me.

Wearing: blouse and skirt are from Palmer//Harding (they’re an inspirational men’s and women’s clothing line), Yves Saint Laurent heels, Lanvin necklace, Cartier Love bracelet. Rings from Bijules, Urban Outfitters, and a big thank  you to Jennie Kwon Designs for the black equilibrium cuff ring. I love it so much, it is a perfect ring for layering.

Borough Market, London

Borough market is one of my absolute favorite places in all of London! Thank you to my friend Levi Palmer who is a designer for Palmer//Harding clothing line who introduced me to this market. Borough Market is a great place to visit for anyone interested in food. The Market is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. You can find amazing products here, great range of cheese, bread, fresh meat, variety of fruit and vegetable, bakery products, fresh flowers…. Nice street food from different cuisines as Indian, Chinese, Spanish, Greek…(you name it) are outstanding. Tasting some of the free samples from various stands was fun, and the food was so fresh and delicious.

If you travel to London, you must visit this market. It is located on Southwark Street and Borough High Street just south of Southwark Cathedral on the southern end of London Bridge.  The market is one of the largest and oldest food markets in London. It was first mentioned in 1276, although the market itself claims to have existed since 1014. Amazing market! I will definitely visit this market again.

Have a wonderful day to all! xo…Hanh :)

London

Beautiful view of Clock Tower, House of Parliament, Westminster bridge, Thames river from the London Eye.

The clouds in London can be huge during the wet weather. At Buckingham Palace.

Beautiful reflection.

Beautiful green grass at Westminster Abby.

Regent street at night. It’s one of the fun and beautiful streets to walk around.

I heart London!

My cute little girl. We all were excited to be in London.

I love the classic black London cab, but it’s fun to see the cabs come in a wide variety of colors.

London is one of the most fun cities we have visited. There are so many things to do in this city. The London Eye was pleasant and was our first thing to do to have a glance of London. The Fast boat ride on Thames river was fun. We visited Buckingham Palace, London Tower, toured  inside Westminster Abby, Madame Tausaud’s wax museum, King Cross station where they filmed part of Harry Potter. Borough market, the oldest market in London, has  been opened since 1500. Covent Garden market, shopping at TopShop on Regent/Oxford street, and walking around the town were all fun. Cool restaurants with great food for hanging out with family and friends are everywhere. There’s so many things left to be done in London. It’s definitely a come-back city.

Summer Tee Rock n’ Roll

I’m so flattered that Kristi and Scot, the fashion editors for D Magazine, featured my outfit in their recent post ‘Hanh, Summer Tee Perfection’ and their mention, ‘how to wear a tee shirt with tastemaker perfection…” So nice!  I hope this look inspires you to dress-up your cool tee for summer. The beautiful tailored vest blazer and the heels fancied  up this outfit with the right dose of fun for a cocktail hour or a nice lunch date with your friends.

Wearing: Zara vest blazer and shorts, Forever 21 tee, Linda Farrow sunnies, Balenciaga mini cross body bag, YsL rings, and bracelets from YsL and Hermes.
